OUR STORY

Having spent most of my childhood in the kitchen baking with my mum and grandmother, it’s no surprise that I wanted to turn my love for baking into a business.

At age 10, I joined my local sugar art club, learning about everything from fondant flowers to royal icing (this lesson came in handy later on!). I started to make birthday cakes for family and friends, but as I was always wanting to learn something new, I soon moved on from this.

At age 12, I made my first decorated biscuits. Making these decorated biscuits inspired me to try making gingerbread houses, so I gave it a go. I didn’t realise it then, but this is what gave me the idea that I could turn my hobby into a business.

At 17, I left high school and after deciding that university wasn’t the right choice for me, I started to think about opening my own business. Six months later, The Biscuit Barn had come to life!

The Biscuit Barn is run from my family home in rural Lanarkshire in Scotland, where my parents also run a plant nursery, Beeches Cottage Nursery.
